After Leonora: Echoes of Surrealism
'After Leonora: Echoes of Surrealism' invites audiences to explore the impact of Leonora Carrington's work through a compelling dialogue between her visionary sculptures and the diverse practices of contemporary women artists.
By reimagining Surrealist motifs and themes for today’s world, the exhibition emphasises the boundless creativity and influence of this artistic movement. Through this cross-generational exchange, Gillian Jason Gallery offers a space to reflect on Carrington’s remarkable contributions and the evolving interpretations of Surrealism, celebrating its continued ability to inspire, challenge, and captivate.
Inspired by this year's 100th Anniversary of the rise of the Surrealist movement, Gillian Jason Gallery is delighted to open its doors in 2025 with the exhibition 'After Leonora: Echoes of Surrealism.' The group show will feature a selection of late bronzes and editioned lithographs by Carrington, accompanied by works of international, contemporary female artists whose practices showcase Surrealist cues in diverse and unique ways.
Exhibited alongside Carrington, will be the work of: Jade Ching-Yuk Ng (b. 1992, Hong Kong), Daisy Collingridge (b. 1990, UK), Sophie Dherbecourt (b. 1992, France), Aigana Gali (b. 1980, Kazakhstan, British), Cecilia Granara (b. 1991, Saudi Arabia, Italian), Siomha Harrington (b. 1997, Ireland), Alice Irwin (b. 1994, UK), Bronwyn Katz (b. 1993, South Africa), and Emily Pope (b. 1993, Canada).
