‘Nina on the Sea’ (2022) presents a similar colour, tone, blue background, small figure and endless feelings of childhood hope in time. Nina will live through a very different experience of the climate than a young Owen. The notion of a young girl enjoying the bounty of the sea is echoed in both works with decades between them. Viewers are invited to question what the landscape will look like in 30 years. The artist encourages thoughts of time passing, of childhood wonder, and the comfort of environment and nature not being infinite.
