Overview
Weijue Wang's artwork is not just an exploration and reflection of her own experience as a woman, but also a challenge to the expectations and stereotypes of the female body in society.
Born in Nanjing in 1993, Wang Weijue received her BA from the College of Saint Benedict in 2015 and her MFA in Studio Art from San Francisco Art Institute in 2017. She has held solo exhibitions at Toku Gallery and BANANA Art Space in Nanjing and participated in group exhibitions and art projects in galleries and museums both at home and abroad.

In her art practice, Weijue Wang takes wool fibre as her main creative medium and explores the possession and lack of rights in women's gender roles through installations and graphic art forms. These works appear sweet and soft, while inside they are filled with traces of violence from the process of felted wool needle felting. Her works are based on this conflict, revealing the conflicts and struggles that lie beneath the calm, wonderful surface.
